Tampa - Inspired on a drive along Bayshore Boulevard, local artist Taylor Ikin stopped when she saw the Jose Gasparilla pirate ship.
The morning clouds on January 30, 2009 provided low light and a particularly engaging image, she said.
"I was driving down the Bayshore and noticed the tide, clouds and weird light were giving a surreal look to the Gasparilla boat,"
she said. So she parked her car near Howard Avenue, crossed Bayshore Boulevard, scrunched beneath the balustrade level, focused and shot.
Ikin, of Sunset Park, is a water media painter and board member of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County. Her work focuses on the
natural world and encourages environmental preservation. She said she always is on the lookout for unusual and fun images.
